The following are recent examples of custom masking that we have designed and manufactured for various companies to solve their specific needs:


Brake Drum

Overhead conveyor application - The goal was to mask open orifices and hang a large, heavy duty, 40 lb. brake drum with studs facing down. Offline loading was a requirement as well.

The design was a two piece plasma-cut plate and mask assembly with threaded shaft to allow a tight seal between plates.

Bottle Tool Holder

Chain-on-edge conveyor application - The goal was to mask the outer rim and inside of the bottle while keeping the bottle upright and concentric on the tool, to allow for consistency while rotating, as it undergoes a proprietary UV coat process on a chain-on-edge conveyor.

The design was a machined Nylon 6/6 center tool and holder with a stiffening steel shaft inside the tool for structural support. The masking assembly was comprised of multiple replaceable components for inexpensive reordering capability. A grooved replaceable o-ring provided an air tight seal between the rim and mask.

Exhaust Tube Expansion Mask

Overhead conveyor application - The goal was to insert a mask into exhaust tubes of various large diameters and create a tight seal to keep the insides of the tubes clean as they undergo typical wash cycles and powder paint processes. The design was a multi-setting expansion mask with a minimum of replaceable components.

Integrated Rack/Mask

A world leader in lighting wanted to mask a heat sink area from paint after it had been washed but before it entered the coating area. Our chief engineer designed an extremely effective cantilever mechanical mask, that would allow the part to be washed in the open position and then be flipped closed prior to entering the coating area. The rack and mask was constructed durable enough to maintain tolerances after continuous burn-off stripping. The integrated rack and mask provided significant cost savings for the customer by eliminating the material and labor cost of tape masking the area.
